"When should I book my senior session?" That is always such a big decision, and it really depends on what you are looking for in your photos. Do you want flowers? Spring flowers? Summer flowers? Do you want fall leaves? Brown tones? Long grass? There is so much to think about, but I am here to help you out. I promise!
Savannah's session was in August, and it was the perfect blend of nature, some architecture and her favorite sport.
For her session, we started out on the Lawrence University campus in Appleton at one of my favorite buildings. This building was constructed in 1928 and I just adore the architecture of it. They also have a baseball field right there and we were given permission to shoot some photos on the field, which worked out great! The ivy was gorgeous at this time of year and we had the sun peeking through the trees.
We then headed to another one of my favorite locations, which is Bubolz Nature Preserve. What I love about Bubolz is you have a nice variety of textures. You have water, grass, flowers, pine trees, concrete, stone and the cutest log cabin. I highly recommend visiting them any time of year and walking around.
We did some photos on the trails near the pines which is always such a lovely backdrop. We then made our way to the beautiful Black-Eyed Susan's on the property. These are some of my favorite flowers and we usually get some beautiful sunshine coming in. Turtle Pond is always a fun spot on the preserve. We get that water in the background and if the light is just right, we get beautiful reflections on the water. Savannah did amazingly with each area we shot in.
Then, we stopped by the fence and captured her by the lovely pink Cone Flowers. And, again...look at that sun behind her! People ask me why I love Bubolz and this is why! This girl just has the best smile! It makes you smile, too.
Blue Hour
One thing I always love to do is shoot into blue hour. This is the time of day after the sun has set and it goes quickly. It can be tricky to get enough light on your subject, but if you do and you have a moon come out and surprise you, it is magical!
